The City of Walsenburg has adopted comprehensive land use and building regulations including:

  • Annexation

  • Property Maintenance

Required Building Permits

Anyone who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure shall first make application to the building official and obtain the required permit. BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION - ONLINE   BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION - PRINTABLE 

PERMIT FEES

  • All Commercial Construction must have a building permit and all work must be performed by a licensed and insured contractor.

  • All Residential Construction must have a building permit. If the home owner is personally doing their own work the attached property owner/builder liability form must be included with the permit application.

  • All building foundations larger than 250 square feet are required to be engineered and wet stamped by a colorado registered professional engineer or architect.

Building Permits and changes in land use can be obtained by filing the proper application and paying the appropriate fees to the City.

All Electrical, Plumbing, and Gas permits must be purchased through the State of Colorado at DORA - Electrical &, Plumbing Permits
